Our Methodist Heritage

The Methodist movement traces its roots to 18th-century England, where John and Charles Wesley sparked a spiritual renewal within the Church of England. Concerned with the lack of personal piety and practical holiness among churchgoers, they emphasized the transforming power of God’s grace, the authority of Scripture, and a life of active faith. Their methodical approach to discipleship gave rise to the name “Methodist.”

Methodism spread rapidly—first across the British Isles and then to America—carried by circuit riders, lay preachers, and passionate believers. It became a movement of heartwarming revival, social justice, and deep commitment to personal and communal holiness.

At its core, the Methodist tradition is grounded in:

  • Scriptural Holiness – a call to be inwardly transformed by grace and outwardly devoted to love and service.
  • Wesleyan Theology – holding to key doctrines such as prevenient grace, free will, justification by faith, and Christian perfection (sanctification).
  • Connectionalism – a spirit of shared mission, mutual accountability, and collaborative ministry.

Today, the Global Methodist Church continues this legacy—faithful to our biblical and theological roots, open to the renewing power of the Holy Spirit, and committed to making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.

We are a Global Methodist congregation joyfully rooted in historic Arminian-Wesleyan theology. Grounded in Scripture, shaped by grace, and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we embrace the transforming love of Christ and the call to holy living. Our mission is to make disciples who love deeply, serve faithfully, and live out the hope of the Gospel in every generation.

As a Global Methodist congregation shaped by Arminian-Wesleyan theology, we hold to the following convictions

Scriptural Holiness: We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God and our guide for faith and practice. We seek to live in alignment with its truth, both personally and as a community.
Saving Grace for All: Grounded in the Arminian belief in free will, we affirm that God’s grace is available to all people, and that salvation is a gift received through faith in Jesus Christ.
Sanctifying Grace and Holy Living: Following the Wesleyan tradition, we believe that God’s grace not only saves but also sanctifies, enabling believers to grow in love, resist sin, and live in joyful obedience to God’s will.
The Call to Discipleship: We are committed to making disciples of Jesus Christ through worship, small group formation, prayer, study of Scripture, and acts of mercy and justice.
The Power of Community: We believe in the importance of the church as the Body of Christ—a community where believers are encouraged, challenged, and equipped to live out their faith in the world.
