Clapps Staff & Leadership


The staff and leadership here at Clapps Chapel is comprised of men and women who love, care and pray for every single person in the church. If you have questions for any of our staff, feel free to reach out and email them or call our church office to speak with them.

REV. DR. CHRIS STANFIELD (Staff)

PASTOR

A former Navy chaplain with over two decades of pastoral ministry experience, Chris was appointed to our church in 2021. He serves two congregations within the newly formed Global Methodist Church. After guiding the congregation through a re-visioning process, Chris is inspired to see so many active leaders within the congregation. He is married to Kelley; they have six grown children and ten grandchildren...at the moment :).

RICHARD WRIGHT (Leadership)

LAY LEADER

Richard is a retired postal service employee who once delivered the mail—now he faithfully delivers the Sunday morning prayers. Though he had to be gently convinced to step into his role, Richard has proven to be a gifted and dedicated lay leader. With wisdom, humility, and a heart for the Lord, he helps guide the church and encourages others to grow in their faith. His steady presence and servant’s spirit are a true gift to our congregation. He is married to Jane; they raised two children, and now have three grandchildren.

GABE DAVIS (Leadership)

DISCIPLESHIP TEAM & MEN'S FELLOWSHIP OF CHRISTIAN SERVICE

To say that Gabe LOVES the Lord and is dedicated to the advancement of the Kingdom of God - would be an understatement! He works as a civil servant, but his vocation is sharing the love of Christ with others. A Gideon, Sunday School teacher, small group leader, lay theologian, avid follower of the liturgical calendar and sacred seasons of the church year - Gabe is married to Shawna, and they have two adult children.

NORMA KENNEDY (Leadership)

EVANGELISM & MEMBERSHIP TEAM

Norma is a retired physical education teacher whose love for the Lord and for people shines through in everything she does. With a heart for service and a passion for sharing the Gospel, she continues to bless the church through her faithful involvement in evangelism, membership care, and wherever else she is needed. Whether encouraging a newcomer or reaching out to someone in need, Norma's joyful spirit and servant’s heart reflect the love of Christ in action.

STACY WORSHIM (Staff)

CHILDREN'S MINISTRY

Stacy joined the church in 2023, and has a heart for children, youth, and the healing work of Christ. She serves families in the community with compassion, particularly supporting children facing behavioral challenges. Her love for the Lord guides her every step, and she brings that same care and dedication to her role as Children’s Ministry Director. Through her leadership, our youngest members are nurtured in faith, love, and hope.

CALEB WILKINS (Staff)

YOUTH MINISTRY

Caleb is a dedicated young man pursuing a career in middle school education with a heart for teaching and mentoring the next generation. A passionate sports fan and active soccer referee, he brings energy and enthusiasm to everything he does. Grounded in a strong Christian faith, Caleb faithfully serves the church by guiding youth to grow in their relationship with Christ. His leadership, joy, and commitment make a lasting impact on the lives of those around him. He is married to Ellie, and their son, George Marshall, was just baptized.

JULIE DOUGHERTY (Leadership)

WOMEN'S FELLOWSHIP OF CHRISTIAN SERVICE

Julie works at the University of Tennessee, but her true gift shines in the way she serves others with grace and humility. As president of the women’s group, Julie leads with compassion and a servant’s heart. She has a deep appreciation for all things beautiful—whether in nature, worship, or community—and finds great joy in watching children grow in their love for the Lord. Her presence brings warmth, encouragement, and a quiet strength to all she does.

ANN RUSSELL (Leadership)

WORSHIP TEAM

Ann is a retired school teacher of 30 years whose boisterous joy and vibrant personality bring warmth and energy wherever she goes. A natural leader with a heart for others, Ann continues to bless her family by helping care for her children and grandchildren, and she faithfully serves in worship ministry with a deep love for the church. Her enthusiasm, wisdom, and servant spirit make her a cherished part of our leadership and congregation.

SHAWN WHITE (Staff)

MUSIC DIRECTORY & LITURGIST COORDINATOR

Shawn is a gifted musician who plays for the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra and brings that same passion to leading the church choir. He loves music in all its forms, has a deep appreciation for liturgical worship, and is always up to date on SEC sports and the news of the day. With a thoughtful spirit and a heart for beauty in worship, he enriches the life of the church through his leadership and love for sacred tradition.

LAURA WHITE (Staff)

PIANIST

Laura is a gifted pianist, dedicated teacher, and excellent musician whose talent and gentle spirit are a blessing to all. She faithfully assists the choir during rehearsals, thoughtfully selects congregational hymns, and generously supports the growth of children and youth in the church. Her sweet and quiet presence speaks volumes, offering encouragement and grace through every note she plays and every life she touches. She and Shawn are married, and are raising two daughters.

KELLEY STANFIELD (Staff)

PARENT'S DAY OUT

Kelley is the devoted wife of our pastor (and his greatest supporter in life and ministry). A woman of deep Christian faith, Kelley stepped faithfully into the role of leading our Parent’s Day Out program, helping it grow into a cherished ministry for families. Her love for children is evident—not only in the church but in her life as a proud mother of six, and grandmother to ten grandchildren. Her grace, warmth, and quiet strength continue to bless our congregation in countless ways.

SUSAN ROBERTS (Staff)

CHURCH SECRETARY & CUSTODIAN

Susan grew up in our church and now faithfully serves in the role once held by her mother, continuing a legacy of dedication and love. As our church secretary, she keeps us organized and informed, always with a joyful heart. Susan loves working outdoors, staying connected with the life of the congregation, and helping prepare the church for worship each week. Her quiet faithfulness and deep roots in our church family are a true blessing.
